Happy Holidays!

UKBA Highly Trusted Status

We appreciate that the rules and requirements for this accreditation are still a little unclear for everyone who is applying; and also what information has to be submitted by schools once you have been granted it. We are currently trying to find out more definitive information from the UKBA but in the mean time, if you have any information regarding the process or requirements, we would dearly like to hear from you!

Calendars

The new 16-month 2010-2011 Class Desktop Calendars have been shipped out! If you haven't already received your annual calendar from us or would like more for your staff, please contact us with how many you would like and we will be delighted to send you them while stocks last!

New Class Ledger VAT Report

The next general release of Class (v6.3.59 now available from our website), includes a new Ledger report for analysing detailed allocations and VAT. The report shows, per allocation, the VAT breakdown (calculated and inclusive), base currency details, deferred income values and unallocated cash information.

If you already use the new detailed allocations feature in Class then you will be able to take full advantage of this new report.

Exhibitions

Each year we always attend the StudyWorld workshop in London but also this year, we attended the IALC workshop in Galway last April and the FELTOM workshop in Malta last September. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who stopped by for a chat or just to say hi. It was great to meet and see you all!

Free Refresher's Sessions

For those of you who may not be aware, we offer free online Refresher's Sessions to all customers with a current Connected Support Contract; to help you make the best use of Class. These 20-minute sessions are aimed at experienced users.

Techies' Corner

We've had a few issues reported regarding software upgrades to new Microsoft products. Please consider the following when upgrading your systems.

Windows 7

We have seen a few machines implemented that have the Windows 7 64-bit operating system with built in 32-bit backwards compatibility. From what we've found, the 32-bit backwards compatibility does not work that well for 32-bit based systems. Our recommendation would be to stay with the 32-bit version!

Office 2007 & 2010

We currently support up to Office 2010 32-bit, but not the 64-bit versions. To avoid unnecessary disruption to your operations we would recommend that you stay with 32-bit software versions up to Office 2010. For a reminder on the currently supported server operating platforms and other Microsoft products, please see the table below.

Backups — Important Reminder

Servers do occasionally go down! What would happen if yours did? Do you have a valid backup you could use to rebuild from?

We cannot stress enough just how important it is to validate your backup media, not only for content, but also your ability to restore from it. Give yourself some piece of mind and get your techies to run a test restore on a scheduled basis!
